Kate Spade

I love Kate Spade's clothing new line.
I'm not sure if I love the campaign or the actual clothes more.
I would love to own any/all of these.
The bright colored tights are great.

Thrifty Finds and Metamorphosis of a Travel Bag

Estate sales this weekend were very disappointing. I hit a few thrift stores too.
I found this pretty Arthur Court signed bamboo and frog dish. It was only $1.50.
I also found these French books for $0.25 each. Why would I need books about Paris? Cause I'm going! I'm taking a trip to Europe next week, visiting London and Paris.
Which brings me to the metamorphosis section.
I have been looking for a travel bag/purse. Something that can be slung across the body - I plan on going to as many Paris flea markets as possible, and have been warned about pickpockets! I found this cute little bag at TJ Maxx for $7. Pretty good deal, most of the ones I had previously seen had been upwards of $40. I was not crazy about the plastic faux croc pockets on front. They don't look too bad in this picture, but they looked so plastic and cheap up close.
So I took a couple of scraps of a gray vintage fabric, I cut out a little stencil (it is suppose to look somewhat like a cherry blossom). I used some white fabric paint for the stencil.
I then used a combination of spray adhesive and a glue gun to attach the fabric to the plastic pockets, and tucked everything in. It seems to have stuck quite well. Hopefully it will make it to Europe and back!

Thrifty Thursday, another Peacock

I stopped by a thrift store yesterday and found this peacock! It was only $2, and it meant to hang on the wall. I think I may paint it white.
I also picked up a pile of zippers and bias tape for upcoming projects I've been meaning to get to. They were 3 for $1.
And my favorite, another pile of silver flatware. Most of them are monogrammed, and a few are really pretty serving pieces. They are all very tarnished, and some have silverplate loss, but I don't mind.

Outdoor Wednesday in Princeton NJ, part 2 University Edition

In this last installment of Princeton, NJ pictures from last week's visit, I wanted to share images from the University.
This is all part of the university, which is located adjacent to the downtown area - Palmer square.
The Princeton Tiger is seen all over.
The architecture is absolutely amazing.
These gates welcome students and visitors.
There are stone archways everywhere.
That lead to more.
And of course, many ivy covered buildings.
I hope the kids that go to Princeton know how lucky they are to be surrounding by such beautiful buildings.

Beautiful heavy wood doors.

Even small details such as lights are worth stopping to take a look at.

A few cute shops in Princeton NJ

I am still catching up from my trip to Princeton NJ last week, and wanted to share a few shops in the adorable downtown area - Three or More Shops.
Not only does Princeton have the cutest houses, it has great shopping. The center of town, which is right next to the university, is called Palmer Square. It has great shops and restaurants.

green design is my favorite. They sell only environmentally friendly and sustainable wares.
They carry bath products that are unique and wonderful. I really liked their Trillium Organics line - especially the fresh lime body soap.
They also carry the cutest kids clothes I've ever seen, as well as toys, gifts, cards, kitchen wares.
These are a few things I brought home with me - organic sweet almond body oil (love it), all natural bug spray that actually works and smells good, and the fresh lime body soap.
Super cool store - if you are in Princeton, you have to stop by.

Zoe is an ultra chic clothing store with a mix of unique designers. They carry Stella McCartney, Rag & Bone, Thakoon, Alexander Wang, and more. A little too pricey for me, but fun to look!
Zoe, 11 Hulfish Street, Princeton, NJ 08542

House of Cupcakes! A whole shop dedicated to cupcakes!
They look so pretty all lined up, waiting to be taken home.
All sorts of flavors. I tried the Peanut Butter Cup. Delicious.

They even have doggie cupcakes! It looks as though they were quite popular, there was only one left.
House of Cupcakes, 30 Witherspoon St, Princeton, NJ 08542

The Alchemist & Barrister Pub. Though I did not frequent this establishment, it looks darling. I love the name and the building. I imagine a lot of Princeton students and professors would hang out here.
The Alchemist & Barrister, 28 Witherspoon Street, Princeton, NJ 08540

The town theater is really cute - like an old fashioned movie theater. I did not get a chance to see a movie, but they were playing 500 Days of Summer, which I really want to see.
Princeton Garden Theater, 160 Nassau St, Princeton, NJ 08542

And one of the many beautiful churches sprinkled throughout the town. They all have such beautiful architecture and gorgeous stained glass windows.

Weedend Roundup, rummage, garage and estate sales!

This weekend I attended a well rounded mix of garage sales, estate sales and a rummage sale. I found some good things! Above is my favorite find of the weekend. It is a sterling napkin ring engraved with the name Clara. My grandmother's name was Clara. It is well worn - and tarnished beyond repair in some spots, but I love it.
This is a brass frog salt cellar set, with spoons. It looks very bright green in the picture, but it is a more worn and brown/green in person.
A cake server with a bakelite handle, and a gravy ladle.
The ladle is "birds of paradise" pattern.
An assortment of vintage pillow cases, most of them have embroidered designs. I am planning to make more pillowcase dresses, and hopefully eventually list them on etsy.com
Two sets of book cards - to write your name on and place in your books. If you lose your book, it will be returned to it's rightful owner (hopefully!)
A large ceramic cat.
Fall is coming soon! Some potential fall/halloween decorations....A wood tray with hand painted pumpkins.
A little stone mouse.
And a large skull - it is open in the center, you could sit a candle in it.
A scary little witch sitting on a bench with a bat watching over her.
