Thrifting Finds, Art Nouveau and more

Even with Thanksgiving, I managed to still get some thrifting in last week. I found this great book about Art Nouveau lighting.
The book has lots of examples of really unique lamps, including the above peacock lamp. Love it.
Also in the Art Nouveau genre, I found this glass plate with a woman's face molded into it. It is signed by the artist, Gama.
A set of pretty fruit monogrammed spoons.
And Wizard of Oz books, dating back to the 30's.

I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving Food Pictures

I forgot to take pictures of almost all of the Thanksgiving feast, I did manage to snap a few shots early in the process. These veggies became delicious after roasting them.
The beginning of the stuffing - cubed bread, onions, celery, chestnuts, seasonings.
And of course, pumpkin pie.

I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving!

White Wednesday Vintage Table Finds

A couple of vintage finds to use for Thanksgiving dinner. This is a white vintage linen roll warmer (and bread basket).
It is round, with very pretty lace detailing.
It has little ties to keep it in place.
And little slots for the rolls to sit in. This isn't the best picture (only one spare roll to use as example). There are about a dozen little slots.
A white silverware caddy. It has 3 slots, and pretty gold trim. This will be perfect to sit out with appetizers and fill with vintage flatware.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Turkeys

These are my friendly neighborhood turkeys.
Occasionally I am lucky enough to see one in my yard.
For the most part, they congregate in one family's yard up the hill. This family apparently feeds them. The turkeys have taken over their yard.
I finally remembered to bring my camera with me to take some shots. I just love seeing them wandering around. I wonder if they know how close we are to Thanksgiving?

Monday Finds, Napkin Rings and more

This week I hit a couple antique stores, thrift stores and an estate sales. I brought home a few things. This pretty frame was only $0.50. The flap on back (which helps it stand) was broken off, but that doesn't bother me. I would rather lean it up against some books.
A pair of pretty, old salt and pepper shakers.
The napkin rings also are old, but I am not sure what they are made out of. Possibly sea shell, or faux bone? With brass on the inside.
More napkin rings. The shorter one has a pretty floral design, and the other, my favorite, engraved with the name, Mame Boland.
A pretty little teapot with G monogram on it. It was filthy when I bought it, here it is all shined up. I actually liked it a little better when it had some tarnish on it, but it was really just too dirty to leave as is.
And I could not pass up this little brass mouse with giant ears.

More Fall Decor

Thanksgiving is just about here. It usually gets left behind in the decoration department, with everyone concentrating on Christmas and Halloween. But there are some lovely things out there, and not just turkeys. This is a worn wood pilgrim couple (ignore the crooked candle).
Very old candles, antique store finds.
And some little pewter salt and pepper shakers.

Fall Dinner Party

This table is set for a pre-thanksgiving dinner party, and heavy on the thanksgiving themed decor.
Each setting has a vintage brown and white linen napkin and napkin ring.
The napkin rings are all antiques, with monograms or names on them - all different.

The plates are brown transferware.
Also all different. With all of the mismatching of plates and napkin rings, the flatware stayed all one pattern - though I typically prefer mismatched monograms and patterns.
Centerpiece is a ceramic pumpkin, surrounded by small candles in fall shapes.
Including turkeys, pears, gourds and small pumpkins. All sitting on an ornate silver tray.
Pewter candle sticks holding corn candles.
The cheese tray. One of the spreaders is a turkey.
A vintage wood cracker tray.
Dessert was a fall apple tart. If you want to see how I made it, click here. It's very easy.
I guess you could call this practice for next week!

Thanksgiving approaching fast, White Wednesday

Thanksgiving is almost here! This ceramic white turkey is out, and filled with candy.
I love this simple table, with the white pumpkin and candle centerpiece. Perfect for Thanksgiving. From Martha Stewart.
Or this table, set up for a dessert buffet. Also from Martha Stewart.

Fall, puppies, and deer

It looks very fall-ish these days. Almost all of the leaves have fallen. Luckily the weather has stayed relatively warm.
This adorable and very sweet little puppy is a new neighbor. He loves to run around in the leaves.
He is so cute even the deer stopped by to check him out.
Finally captured the deer on camera, usually they wander off before I can get a clear shot of them.
