White Buttons

I needed a couple of white buttons the other day, so I decided to sort my button stash, by color.
I've picked up many vintage buttons over time, usually a bag or box of them on the discount day of an estate sale.
I have a lot. These are just the white ones.
They are in these fluted aluminum baking molds, which I love. I have a bunch of them in different shapes.

Weekend Treasures

I found some great old photos this weekend.
This is my favorite. I'm fascinated by these woman. They are all wearing black bow tie-type things. What does that mean and what did they do?

I also found a few other things.
This little aluminum tin reads Fluff. I've been trying to find out what Fluff might be, but haven't had any luck. The tin is about the size of a bar of soap, maybe it was a brand of soap?
More mysteries. These knives are similar to butter knives, but larger and the blade has a slight indentation. They are marked on the back Nallog. Again, no luck researching the name or the use.
These are little gothic monkey/gargoyle statues. No mysteries attached, just monkeys.

White Wednesday, more finds

This is a continuation of things I found at estate sales last weekend. I picked up a few more white milk glass bud vases. You can never have too many of these, especially with spring coming.
I love a bunch of them grouped together. These three are all slightly different.

I also found a set of ceramic fish napkin rings.

And this great little ashtray from Ernie's Restaurant in San Francisco - a famous restaurant that opened at the turn of the century, had it's heyday in the 50's and closed in the early 90's.
The design has an art nouveau feel to it. It will be perfect to use as a little key or trinket dish.

Weekend Finds, Brass, Books and Cup

Estate Sales were back in full force this weekend. There were a ton of them in my area! It is still too cold for most garage sales - however I did see one! These are a few things I came home with.
Above is a great little antique silver cup with pretty floral detailing. I love these cups. I use them to hold spoons.
I also found some brass pieces...
A fish bottle opener and owl fireplace fork (I'm sure it has a proper name, but it looks like a giant fork and I think it is used somehow in a fireplace).

A couple of old 1940's books.
Alice in Wonderland and Anderson Fairy Tales. They both have great graphics and illustrations.

White St. Patrick's Day Wednesday

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Above is pretty Irish monogrammed linen.
It was very hard to photograph, but there are very small shamrocks in the linen.
And a milk glass relish dish filled with St. Patrick's Day treats!

Silver Sunday, Cup and Sugar Spoons

This silver cup is one of my very favorite pieces.

It is made by James Tufts in Boston, probably around the turn of the century - he was out of business by 1915.

It is inscribed with the name Jimmie.

The women on the handle has incredible detail.

I keep my collection of sugar spoons in the cup.

The art nouveau styles are my favorite.

Some of these are monogrammed as well.

Shop Update

These are some things I've added to my Etsy shop today.
An antique sugar bowl with lid.
It has very pretty floral details and an "A" monogram.
I love monograms.
4 silver dessert or salad plates.
Also monogrammed, they have a "K" monogram. Very difficult to photograph without getting my reflection in the shot!
Pointer dog cufflinks.
I also love dogs.
Silver owl salt and pepper shakers.
Probably goes without saying, but I love owls, too. There is a great gray owl who lives in my backyard. I hear him all the time but I've only seen him twice. I was able to get a few photographs of him here.
And, a vintage sweater guard. (Whoops! This one already SOLD).
