Christmas Presents

It was a lovely Christmas here at The Lazy Peacock.
These are just a few of the wonderful gifts that I received.
A beautiful set of antique French tortoise hair combs.
They are each stamped France. I love them, and since I wear my hair up all the time, they will get a lot of use.

Several antique/collecting books.

Including this one about Paris shops.

Some new silver polish! I go through silver polish like crazy. I haven't tried this one before, but am always looking for a better one - I have yet to come across one that I really love.

This super adorable handbag was from my brother and his wife. They have the cutest shop in Princeton NJ, Green Design. I think it probably came from their shop.

It has a little birdie stitched onto it. So cute!

This was a gift I gave to my mom - who loves Halloween and Christmas. It is a print of a Christmas Witch - her sleigh is made of broomsticks, being pulled by black cats, one white cat at the helm. I found this shop on ebay, Byrum Art - they have lots of great Halloween and Christmas prints.

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas too!

White Christmas Mantel

This year the fireplace mantel went all white and silver.

Lots of Christmas tree candles, and a cardboard church with bottle brush trees.

This Santa sleigh was an estate sale find - it used to be gold. A quick coat of white spray paint fixed it right up.

More trees and an angel.

Vintage Christmas Decorations

Here are a few shots of my vintage Christmas decorations. Above is an old wood dough bowl filled with vintage glass ornaments.

A tiny wood block village and some old tree candles.

Carollers and and ice bucket holding silver glass ornaments.

I found this group of candles at a recent estate sale.

And I love old magazines on the coffee table, this is The Saturday Evening Post, December 13, 1947.

This one is my favorite - another Saturday Evening Post, December 27, 1947. I suspect this is what many people feel like after the holidays.

Snow

It definitely feels like Christmas with all the snow we have had.

A few outdoor shots with the Christmas lights.

Backyard after the first big snow.

The snow is much deeper now.

Front door area - an old sled.

With an old pair of ice skates.

Thanksgiving Decor

Tomorrow's the big day. Here is a quick peak at the Thanksgiving decorations.
Above are a couple of wood pilgrims.

A "fall" themed mantel.

Some vintage acorn candles, and pillar leaf candles (both Gurley).

Turkey and pilgrim candles (Gurley, again).

A few more candles, and some old pewter heads.

They are salt and pepper shakers.

The outdoor decor is pretty much decimated.

This guy has eaten the backs out of all of the pumpkins, and today we are having a snow storm, so everything left is covered in snow!

White St. Patrick's Day Wednesday

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Above is pretty Irish monogrammed linen.
It was very hard to photograph, but there are very small shamrocks in the linen.
And a milk glass relish dish filled with St. Patrick's Day treats!

More Great Gifts

These are a few more gifts I received for Christmas. This large fabric bag has round wood handles and a beautiful design.
It is huge. Perfect for toting around clothes or lots of stuff. And of course, very chic.
I also received this adorable water bottle. It has a peacock feather on it! And a clip that just happens to attach perfectly to the wood handles of the bag.
This candle is one of the best smelling scents! It is a Christmas scent - with cloves. And the cute Christmas themed paper covering the outside can be removed to reveal a glass container.
The candle is Big Dipper Wax Works, the bottle is Earthlust, and the bag is nkuku.
I believe that they all came from one of my favorite stores ever, green design, in Princeton NJ. All eco-friendly and sustainable goods.
You can read more about my trip last year to Princeton and visit to green design here.

More Christmas Presents - Wizard of Oz

This present is one that I gave. It is a set of pewter Wizard of Oz thimbles. It was for someone who loves Wizard of Oz, and who highly prefers antique or vintage items. These aren't antiques, but could possibly be considered vintage, I believe they are 80's.
I found them on ebay, while searching for unique gifts.
These are the Ruby Red Slippers.
The Wicked Witch flying on her broomstick.
Toto in a basket, the house and tornado on the thimble area.
The Emerald City of Oz, with emerald green stones (they didn't photograph well, but are very bright green).
And the wizard himself - not a thimble, just a figure - with an emerald green belt.
They are incredibly detailed. I had never seen them before, and they were a big hit!
