White Bed Frame

I haven't done any Before and After furniture projects lately. Unfortunately I only have the "after" on this one.
This bed frame was a street find.
An ugly street find. Even though the frame is wood, it looked like plastic, with a faded yellow speckled paint job. And the fabric was an even uglier 1980's mauve satin. I really with I had a before photo.
The frame received a flat white paint job.
I found this silvery/gray velvet upholstery fabric as a remnant, for only $1. There was barely enough to work with, but I was able to make it fit.
After replacing the foam, I stapled the new fabric to the frame, then used white fabric trim to cover up the staples. And there you have it, a new bed frame.

White Christmas Mantel

This year the fireplace mantel went all white and silver.

Lots of Christmas tree candles, and a cardboard church with bottle brush trees.

This Santa sleigh was an estate sale find - it used to be gold. A quick coat of white spray paint fixed it right up.

More trees and an angel.

Old Black and White Group Photos

When I saw this bathroom (above) in Country Living Magazine, I knew I wanted to group together some of my old black and white photos.

This is my version.

It is mostly old school related photos.

And a group of unknown woman.

Most of these are old family photos, but a few are from thrift stores or estate sales.

I have found some of these plain black frames at thrift stores for a couple of dollars to frame the loose ones.

White Wednesday

My pal at October Farm found these great vintage white collars on one of her thrifting excursions. And she sent them to me! She knew I would love them - and I do.
The smaller one has pretty cutout details.
They are in absolutely perfect condition - I don't think they have ever been used.
Details on the back too.
And a pretty pearl closure.

The larger one has a beautiful shape - it will look so pretty over a gray or blue dress.

I used some linen doilies to make this collar and attached it to a shift dress. But I am very excited to have actual collars that can be worn with different outfits.
Thanks October Farm!

White Flowers and Planter

This is currently my favorite planter. It has 4 faces.
It has cracks and crazing all over - makes it look very old even though it is new.

White tall phlox have begun to bloom.
Cut phlox in a bud vase.

White Outdoor Wednesday

The hydrangea bushes have gone crazy. There are tons of them.

This old pot was once used to hold rising bread dough. It's huge. I thought it would make a good vessel for the hydrangeas.
A floral frog holds the stems in place.
It sits on a shabby white plant stand.
Closeup of hydrangea.

Here are some other creatures hiding throughout the backyard. Cute ceramic bunny - there is a real bunny and baby bunnies who have made their home near this little guy. Maybe they think he is a relative who will watch out for them.

Rusted old bird and bell.

Family of ducks.

Hiding duck.

Cute little girl. The plants have grown up and around her.

And Mary quite contrary watching the garden grow.

White Finds

This is a continuation of my finds at an estate sale from this past weekend, the white part!
Cute Avon poodle perfume decanter. His head screws off. Little Dutch boy planter.

Fenton milk glass toothpick holder, some milk glass candle holders.

And 2 sets of Sheffield England knives, still in their boxes. I think they were probably wedding gifts that were never used! This is the carving set with pretty silver details. The other set is 6 steak knives.
