A while back, at an estate sale, I saw a pair of great napkin rings, engraved with the names Emma and Thomas.
They were a bit expensive, and even though I hated to break up the set, I just bought Emma.
I found this great piece at the same sale. It was very tarnished and dirty, almost black - and it had an unreadable monogram.
When I cleaned it up, I realized that the monogram was E & T, Emma and Thomas!
And on the back was '98 - as in 1898. It must have been a wedding gift.
I went back to the sale, and luckily Thomas was still there.
Along with a couple of other pieces I missed.
They all had the E & T, and '98 engravings.
This is the full set - I'm so glad I was able to keep it together!
And by some strange coincidence, this past weekend I found another monogrammed napkin ring with the name Thomas.
And on the flip side is the year 1897!
I am having a giveaway, which includes some vintage silver pieces. Click HERE to enter and for more info.

I'm glad you got to keep the set together. We should do more name engraving the way they did back then!

Oh my, what a sweet story. I love that you bought it all together. I am shure it will bring luck to you. Isn't it amazing to held something in your hands what belonged strange persons and you feel something of their history and imagine their thoughts and luck when they got married and received that gift. Have you seen the silver vase in my post? It is also engraved and was a silver wedding gift at a special time.
