Silver Sunday

These are a few more pieces from my silver collection.

This is a little bowl engraved with Winnie the Pooh and friends.

The whole gang is represented.

And some little quotes from Pooh.

It is made by Community, and I think it from around the 30's. I found it at an estate sale.

Even Christopher Robin is here.

This is a spoon I found on Ebay.

It shows Hansel and Gretel, plus the witch and the Gingerbread House.

A tiny little cup I found at an estate sale.

I have been unable to decipher the engraving.

I think the first word is Souvenir, and the last initials are E.W., but that's all I have. I think it is German, and I assume it was a souvenir.

Linked up to Silver Sunday, hosted by Gypsy Fish.

  1. 'Souvenir von diener' means "souvenir from your" but I don't know what 'Pathin' means. I imagine E.W. is the initials of the giver of the souvenir cup. Very cute!
I LOVE the Hansel and Gretel spoon and the Winnie the Pooh dish is so sweet!

  5. Hello,
you really own interesting things. The Winnie Pooh bowl is so cute and so is he spoon. As a child I would loved to have it.
Yes the engraving on the cup is German: "Souvenir von deiner Pathin, E.W." That means, as Kathie correctly said, "Souvenir from your ... godmother, E.W." I think souvenir is meant as memory gift. E.W. are the initials of the godmother. The word "Pathin" written with th shows that the cup is veeery old. Would be interesting to know who made the cup. Sovenir is actually a french word, but eg in Hanau a lot of people spoke french in the old times because there lived a lot of french speaking religious refugees.
Have fun with your silver treasures.
    Greetings, Johanna
