Nursery Rhyme Silver Collection

This is my collection of children's silver pieces. Nursery rhyme themed are my very favorite.
I love that many nursery rhymes stem from historical or political events. Some were originally very sinister.
This sterling spoon and fork has a slightly devious looking cat, eating with a spoon and reads: Kitty Cat at Breakfast.
I have no idea what this means, I assume it is some nursery rhyme, or story - if anyone knows, please do tell!

The Three Little Pigs. The pigs are all playing instruments.

Spoon from the rhyme There Was an Old Woman Tossed up in A Basket. Part of the rhyme reads: Old Woman Whither So High? To Sweep the Cobwebs From the Sky.

Little Boy Blue Spoon.

Goosey Goosey Gander Spoon.

This is a Humpty Dumpty egg cup.

Little Bo Peep mug.

This one is hard to read, but it is also Little Bo Peep. It is a tin plate.

Little rabbit napkin ring. I'm not sure if this is from a nursery rhyme. Could be just a cute bunny - maybe Bunny Foo Foo?

And a Humpty Dumpty baby cup.

If you are interested in the history of a specific nursery rhyme, this is a pretty good website that tries to sort out their origins.

Linked up to July Edition of Silver Sunday, hosted by Gypsy Fish.

  4. Hi,
this is really a stunning collection. Amazing that you have found so many items which show nursery rhymes and stories. They are really cute. In Germany the company P. Bruckmann & Söhne, Heilbronn, produced 1904/04 fairy tale flatware for children but without rymes. Thank you for sharing your treasures.
    Greetings, Johanna

  5. Enjoyed your nursery rhyme items. I did a Silver Sunday post earlier in the year about my collection. If you visit me today, you can click on my earlier post. I especially like to collect spoons and forks because they are small, and I have a collection of ABC plates.
